Note 02 — TOKYO vibe before rural countryside

A quick stopover Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo vibes before the countryside

Before heading to Yunotsu, I made a short stop in Tokyo. Soon, I would fly to Izumo, then take the JR train towards the small coastal town where I would spend the next three months. But first, a little time in the city.

Tokyo has so much to offer. Every visit leaves me inspired, with a renewed admiration for the care given to architecture and interiors. This time, I was drawn again to the extraordinary precision of the finishes: the meeting of two materials, the edge of a wall, the way light falls across a surface. Even the smallest detail seems to have received someone’s full attention.

I often find myself slowing down in places where everyone else is moving quickly. There is so much to notice. A passage between rooms, a quiet corner, a carefully placed light—each can turn an ordinary moment into something memorable. I leave with photographs, questions, and ideas I want to carry into my own work.

This short stay felt like an opening to the journey. From Tokyo, I would travel towards a different rhythm: the mountains, the sea, and the everyday life of Yunotsu. I was curious to see what would catch my attention there, once I had time to stay.
