Who would have imagined swimming in the Sea of Japan in the middle of October? The weather has been surprisingly warm and beautiful. The autumn sun is gentle, the sea wonderfully calm, and the water still warm enough to swim comfortably.
And the most extraordinary thing? Absolutely no one was there. The entire beach belonged to us. No crowds, no noise, no footprints except our own. Just the sea stretching toward the horizon, the soft movement of the waves, and the warmth of the sun on our skin.
It felt almost unreal to be swimming in October, surrounded by the quiet coastline of Shimane. For a little while, autumn seemed to have forgotten to arrive. After swimming, we wandered along the shore, collecting a few little treasures washed up by the sea. Small fragments, textures and shapes that caught our attention — each carrying its own story of the water, the wind and time.
There was nothing particularly planned about this afternoon. And perhaps that is what made it so special. A beautiful reminder that some of the most memorable moments happen when we least expect them.
A little piece of summer, borrowed from October.
